Theory only.... [total : 7 comment(s) to this image] 1} The Station Master, after allowing freight train into siding, confidently gave the proceed signal for North-bound pax train. This has to be done when station on the south-end request for the go ahead {either by token/block telegraph working}
2} Freight train driver puts on direct loco brakes ONLY, as having to apply full vacuum brakes on the whole consist will need continous compressor pump to work extra hard.
3} Unknowingly, the freight train started to roll slowly into the main-line as the loco brakes could have lost its grip when not fully applied or the station is on a slight gradient. Freight train trailed {...forced its way} the point {which was already set in normal for N/bound train}.....
4} Moment of anxiety for freight train driver when he realised that the brake compressors need at least 5 to 10 minutes to charge up, before all vacuum brakes could be fully released, before he can reverse....
5} N/bound pax train already slowed down upon approaching the station...saw the freight train fouling its right of way.... Slammed the brakes, and train still hit with minimal damage. No life is lost....The pax train driver should be commended for his swift actions.....
6} Even at this point, Station Master had his hands tied...He would not be able to do anything as time was essence before this mishap....The freight loco driver/fireman could have held a danger flag way beyond the collision point to warn the oncoming N/bound train, less they were busy figuring out what to do ....well at least, the pax train driver could have a headstart....

If [total : 7 comment(s) to this image] The train is entering the loop line, the station master will have both switch switched into the loop line in case the train overshoot the loop line and needs to reverse into the loop line number 2.

Reminder Note... [total : 1 comment(s) to this image] This is to remind staff before a train rescue were to take place. . . . 12-car operation (when one 6-car train immobalised) will only take place after complete coupling had been done. Then only the service brakes be released on the defective train. In a 12-car operation, only the rescue train controls the traction, but not brake applications on defective 6-car set. There will always be a brake application (parking brakes) on the defective train, in case the "train breaks away" or pre-mature uncoupling.
