Application of brakes [total : 15 comment(s) to this image] ...application of brakes were taking place because a train will apply its brakes at all station. When you notice the arcing and loud sound, the train was in 'full braking mode'... regen brakes were in progress and brake arms were locked momentarily when regen brakes 'paused' for a while...
The arcing was a result of the other 'blown fuse' not picking up seamless 3rd rail.

Loud Bang... [total : 15 comment(s) to this image] ...is the instantaneous release of air from the brake cylinders (dump valve)... as the brake arms 'locked the wheels'...
At any time, current is picked up on either left or right side 3rd rail...When any one of the fuse is blown (faulty), power is tapped from the other working fuse.
In Braddell (and many other locations too), there are 3rd rail 'gaps' bcoz it can't be continous all the time, due to power distribution design.
Relevant to the previous explanation, when that car was totally 'isolated electrically' from the 3rd rail...max friction brakes will apply as the 'regenerative brakes' was momentarily cut-off since no continuity on the 3rd rail.
Within split of a second when 3rd rail power continue to come in contact (as the train moves at speed), it'll restores regen braking and ALL FRICTION BRAKES RELEASED at once! the 'bang/s' comes from the discharge of compressed air in the brake cylinders.....via the dump valves.....
Can you follow?
It would be easier for those who have knowledge of regen braking, rheostatic braking and pneumatic braking....to understand this as it is quite complex...but be don't despaired....
I am willing to share with you if you have the interest and patience to know more abt this....
Knowledge is for ALL to share...

depends [total : 3 comment(s) to this image] it is possible to have extras of this.
(note: the shopkeeper may not necessarily be the so-called Mr. Fang. It is the shop's name being known as Fang Zheng coins and stamps.)
i went to Fang Zheng coins and stamps for the 1st time on 19 june 2007. back then i saw the SMRT FDCs stamped with #77 and #87.
after some 4 months of absence, i went back there again on 24 october 2007, having made up my mind to get at least 1 set of it. instead of #77 and #87, i saw set #80 first, and subsequently the set #1 after 1 hours of searching inside and outside the shop (Fang Zheng stamps and coins shop do put their merchandise outside the shop most of the time FYI).
i purchased the set #1 immediately.......now maybe left with #80 or maybe not........
so this means, whether the shop have extras of this, depends on when you visit the Fang Zheng coins and stamps........... and your luck too

NickL [total : 8 comment(s) to this image] Yes........i think that is done so that they dont need to find a place near Rasa to turn their train around. It should be noted that it may take some time if they clear passengers then turn around somewhere else and go back into the station to pick passengers, which will affect the schedule.
as far as i know, when i rode the KTM Komuter to Rasa, there are no switches near the southern entry to Rasa station. I don't think there are similar switches to the north of Rasa as well.
Since Rasa's Platform 2 is the terminus of Rawang-Rasa shuttle and there are no switches outside Rasa station, the train will have to use the nearest possible switch which will cause the train to go into tracks leading Rasa platform 2. In this case, Batang Kali (shown in this picture) is the nearest switch. Therefore this train will switch to the right-hand side track after stopping at Batang Kali.
Anyway, based on my observations the Rawang-Rasa shuttle service uses 2 trains and both trains will meet at either Serendah or Batang Kali. trains uses platform 2 at Rasa and platform 2 at Rawang.

. [total : 11 comment(s) to this image] I am no expert, but SEMT Pielstick is (was) simply an engine manufacturer in the same way MAN B&W , EE , Maybach etc are. Pielstick was the name of its founder, an engineer by the name of G. Pielstick. Commercial and performance dictates and requirements are what basically set the engines technically apart.

More needed !!! [total : 11 comment(s) to this image] The remaining Class 22s needs to be preserved. The last remaining locos ideally must be in working order. Restoration should be carried out including to its original colour scheme. I know it needs money, time, commitments and space. We hope KTMB and others looks at Class 22 in nostalgic manner rather than scrape metal.

maybe the 10617-9900 = 717 other pix are in private folder which afaik not accessable to unofficial members
i m still an unofficial member for now because my parents wanted me to finish my studies first before becoming an official member (and letting me off to travel to Malaysia alone)
maybe only when i become an official member then i can see how much pix are actually inside KTMRFC gallery
Thank You, hafizi79, for informing me the actual stats.
