the signage "Beri ruang kepada penumpang untul turun". Same reminder can be found on Malaysian transit systems, but passengers rarely give a hoot. Wonder how it's like in Singapore?

Samuel return current... [total : 15 comment(s) to this image]
If i recall correctly, because SMRT uses third rail, the voltage is very small (about 750V) so the return current is very high, so high that the cables use for the return current have to be very thick... so i think the thick cables by the side of the wall are for the return current.

Still remember there's a period of time whereby some of the carriage do not have a single seats in them? All are those rubber paddings by the side of the wall for passengers to lean on.

I saw that too. I asked the guy taking care of the train (what's the term?) what that was for. He said it was just a box of signalling and emergency evacuation cables. He told me to look closely and see if the box was on the floor or suspended and it was on the floor. You are not the only one, k3nshiboi. Hehe.

Samuel Sparks... [total : 15 comment(s) to this image]
can be caused by friction but also can be caused by contact that is too fast (the MRT travelling fast)? As for the sparks at the crossovers, it has to be along the older stretch of tracks of unused track like those emergency crossovers.

it's amazing how well SMRT maintainence their train. :)

despite this 1st generation train serve SMRT for so long, yet it's still in very good working condition.

by the way, the trains used ATP (automatic train protection) or ATC (automatic train control) or they just soley depend on the driver to react to situation?

KonstantineChoo Just in case you guys are wondering what is that character in the TV screen [total : 1 comment(s) to this image]
That is NEL, pronounced as Nel, mascot for North-East Line. See his eye lashes? That is the SBSTransit signature T. In this video, he teaches commuters how to use the NEL safely and what to do and expect during evacuation.

Oh yes, "Please do not leave your belongings unattended. If you do see any suspicious articles, please report it to our staff or call 999" (NEL-style announcement)
